The postgraduate degrees in Mathematics are the Licentiate in Philosophy (PhL or LicPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The Licentiate is a subdoctoral degree which purpose is to be mainly an orientation for doctoral studies.
Student is approved to postgraduate student on the recommendation of two research supervisor. Plan for postgraduate studies should be prepared in co-operation with the supervisor and it must be approved by the department in question. After departments approval, student must submit a plan for postgraduate studies, which includes the necessary studies and courses. This plan of study must then be registered by the Faculty of Science.
